The Event Cinema Association (ECA) is a non-profit organisation funded by subscription from its members. The work of the ECA is to support and promote Event Cinema on behalf of exhibitors, distributors and content producers, and raise awareness amongst the general public. The ECA has over 155 members from 33 territories worldwide, from the UK to the USA, Australia to Japan, Argentina to South Korea.
Since first appearing in 2006, the Event Cinema market is now established as a global phenomenon having experienced unprecedented growth. Estimated to surpass $1bn by 2019, it occupies between 2-5% of box office revenue worldwide with some exhibitors already claiming that event cinema occupies as much as 50%+ of their overall box office revenue.
The ECA gives the industry a voice, an identity, direction and support as it flourishes in cinemas, complementing mainstream cinema content. In a fast-changing business, ideas and best practices can be exchanged between members, and the ECA is ideally placed to provide such networking forums, conferences, trade show presence and best practice advocacy. The ECA also provides its members with the latest Event Cinema box office data updated weekly, release schedules and industry reports, as well as regular commentary in the industry press.
