The Event Cinema Association’s (ECA) annual Slate Day and 10 Year Anniversary Event will take place next Thursday 26th January at Empire Cinema, Walthamstow in London.
We have a stellar line up of presentations already confirmed from Trafalgar Releasing, Piece of Magic Entertainment, Pathe Live, Nexo Digital, National Theatre Live, Exhibition on Screen, Generation Media, Iconic Releasing, Compassionate Films, Altitude and Anime Ltd. Resident event cinema box office guru, Luke Williams from Comscore, will be providing an international review of the 2022 market and will be taking some time to look back at over the last ten years.

ECA Awards
We are also bringing back the ECA Awards – sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company – where we will recognise the top performing global titles from 2022 for the following genres: Opera, Concert, Theatre, Anime and ESPORTS, which will be determined by global box office. The latter two being two news categories for Slate Day.
Alongside this we’ll have the popular ‘Highly Commended’ event of 2022, to recognise a standout event that was unique and successful outside of box office takings.
The event is also an opportunity to look back at the last ten years of the Association and event cinema. We have decided to aptly limit the awards to ten. Whilst half are based on box office, we are calling upon all across the industry to help us choose worthy winners for the other categories – our ‘people’s choice’ awards.
We asked YOU to submit your nominations and recognise events and individuals that have evolved the event cinema landscape over the years for the following categories:

Looking back over the last ten years, we want you to share your event cinema highlights – what have been your favourite events and memorable moments (the good and the bad) over the last ten years. Which content providers should be recognised for their diverse slate and contribution? Which exhibitors have gone above and beyond in promoting and championing event cinema? Which technology vendors have helped developed and supported the delivery of events? Who has helped transform event cinema? Lets recognise and celebrate those companies or indeed, individuals.
As part of the celebration, we want to look back at the last ten years and are inviting you to share your highlights and memorable event cinema moments.
The focus can be on whatever you want, be it a specific event or observation (the good, the bad and random), all we need is a short 30 sec – 1 min recorded piece. Feel free to keep it really simple, you can record on your phone and send as an Mp4 file. Please send it to Grainne at grainne@eventcinemaassociation.org by Friday 20 January alongside name and job title/title you want presented. We’ll play these over the course of the event.
